Does this replace my regular Ultrasound?

Absolutely not. You must have current prenatal care and your routine diagnostic ultrasound before we can schedule your 3D/4D ultrasound. If your prenatal care is somewhere other than Lintecum & Nickell, please bring a note from your obstetrician or midwife stating that you have care and have had your diagnostic ultrasound.

What is a 3D/4D Ultrasound?

3D ultrasound utilizes computer technology to configure 2D into a 3D image. 4D ultrasound adds time to the spatial image, meaning you can see these images almost instantaneously (real-time 3D).

Is this safe?

Extensive studies have confirmed the safety of ultrasound for the mother and the baby. 3D/4D ultrasound uses the same ultrasound energy and intensity as 2D ultrasound and is just as safe.

Will I be guaranteed a clear picture of my baby’s face and tell the sex of the baby?

Unfortunately there are no guarantees. We are usually able to get a beautiful view of the baby’s face; however, depending on your baby’s position, fluid, placental location, and other maternal factors, it may not always be possible. In most cases we can provide an indication of the sex of the baby. However we cannot guarantee the baby’s cooperation during your session. We will refund part of your charges if satisfactory photos cannot be obtained. A $35.00 sitting fee will be charged if the baby is uncooperative and no pictures can be obtained.

When should I have this done?

3D/4D images are best obtained between 28-32 weeks of pregnancy for singleton pregnancies and 24-27 weeks for twin pregnancies.

Can I bring family and friends?

Yes! This is a special family event. However, room space limitations allow only three additional individuals.

Is this covered by insurance?

No. This is elective and therefore your insurance company will not be billed. Payment in full is due at the time of service. We accept cash, checks and Visa and MasterCard.
