fotolia_47986546Exercise is encouraged during pregnancy; it can help with weight gain, improve your energy, mood and sleep.  It will help prepare you for labor and childbirth while also helping to decrease general aches and pains you may feel throughout pregnancy.

Before beginning an exercise program, talk with your doctor to make sure you do not have any obstetric or health condition that would limit your exercise or activity.  Walking, swimming, cycling, running, aerobics are safe during pregnancy…even for beginners. Avoid contact sports such as snow skiing, water sports and scuba diving. A general guideline for exercise during pregnancy: listen to your body.  Some days you will feel energetic, while some days you will not feel like exercising much. Avoid any activities that could cause harm to your abdomen, stay well hydrated and avoid getting overheated.
